Bosque Del Rio Hondo
This five-acre park is a lush, natural area nestled within the larger Whittier Narrows Recreation Area. Itís an excellent area to run wild, do some bird-watching or biking on the Rio Hondo Bike Path, picnic or generally idle the day away.

Location
831 Rosemead Blvd., El Monte, CA 91733-4211 (626) 579-5201. You can park in the Triple B Shooting range and walk west until you hit the Bike Path then folllow it south into the Park.
Directions
Car: Take 10 Freeway and exit on Rosemeand Blvd. Head south on Rosemean. After going under the bridge, make the first right to find parking.
Transit: Take 266 Bus and get off at Rosemean and Garvey. Bus drops you off infront of the park.

Legg Lake - Snake along the winding paths around the lake and through this handsomely-designed park by foot or by pedal-powered vehicle of choice. (No cars). This is also a great starting spot for long bike rides on the LaRio bike paths that lead both north and south, and travel along smooth, bona fide paved paths. Parking and restrooms are available. Upper San Gabriel Valley, CA 91733. The park boasts a sunken baseball diamond and the Barnyard Zoo. Plaques in the park identify the natural features and wildlife, like Western toads, Pacific tree frogs and salamanders, found along the lower Rio Hondo.
Grant Rea Park - Located in the City of El Monte, this 1,492 acre facility fronts the Rio Hondo tributary and is one of LA Countyís largest and most popular recreational areas. It features a range of activities, including BMX biking, riding along equestrian trails, rifle ranges, and fishing in Legg Lake.
