These easy bike paths for kids and adults take you around the mouth of the Long Beach harbor where the LA River empties out. These paths are also good for skateboarding, strollers, rollerblading, and walking.

Attractions

Palm Beach Park - This little park overlooks the mud-flats at the estuary where the shorebirds gather. Metered parking is available. Off Golden Shore St.

Shoreline Aquatic Park - Just beyond the spot where the LA River widens into the harbor. There’s a lighthouse on a grassy hill, plus lots of meandering paths amid great vistas of the marina and surrounding area. Take a stroll starting at the Aquarium of the Pacific, go to the water, take a right and head along the water’s edge. Curve around the beachfront areas, aiming for the lighthouse. Take the path that spirals up the grassy hill to the lighthouse. Roll down the hill. Laugh. Eat. Lollygag. Return to starting point.

Rainbow Lagoon Park - This park is designed in a traditional Japanese style with two connected islands and surrounding park with high arched “rainbow bridges.”

Aquarium of the Pacific - This world-class aquarium is a favorite destination for families. Parking, food and restrooms are available here.

Queen Mary - This famous ocean liner (and her neighboring Russian submarine) are open for tours of various kind. Kids love prowling around the corridors and decks. Parking, multiple dining options and restrooms are available.

Car: Take the 710 South to Long Beach. Follow the signs to Downtown/Aquarium.Merge onto Shoreline Dr. Take the ramp to Golden Shore St. Park in any one of the metered lots.

Transit: Take the Metro Blue Line to Long Beach. Exit at the Convention Center/Downtown exit.
